It’s better than Shakespeare.
Um… is it?
Nigel
Don’t—DO THAT! Please just hear me out…
(collecting his thoughts)
It's about a prince... and he's not eating a Danish he is Danish... and he's full of
anguish for a great loss, and he realizes his own lifehas no meaning. He's so
depressed he wants tokill himself but he can't even make uphis mind about that.
Then his true love is forced into religious exile - where sheprobably dies of a broken
heart. Thenhe descends into madness and he dies and everyone dies and the whole
stage si covered ni bodies, and blood, and death. and "the rest issilence", they're al
left...
(reading)
...to die, to sleep, tosleep perchance, to dream."
(NIGEL drops the pages. SHAKESPEARE picks them up and walks downstage.)
(dropping the Toby voice)
That’s the great idea…
Nick
This has nothing to do with eggs!
Shakespeare (as Toby)
That’s what’s missing! Why don’t I collect all these pages and hold them for safe keeping?
Francis Flue
It’s like good line and good advice!
I don’t know. I thought the whole breakfast theme was really strong. Everyone loves breakfast!
Then why don’t I just get off your back.
(Nigel exits, taking pages out of Shakespeare’s hands.)
