speciation
Where a population is split and reproductively isolated, there are different selective pressures on the 2 groups. If genetic makeup changes to the extent the 2 groups can no longer interbreed to create fertile offsprings, they have become separate species.
Allopatric speciation
speciation due to physical barrier (the environments have different selective pressures so different alleles are favoured).
sympatric speciation
speciation due to non-physical factor ie changes in anatomy, behaviour or a mutation which no lober allows 2 organisms to produce fertile offsprings.
conservation
the protection and management of species and habitats, in order to maintain biodiversity.
why are seeds stored instead of whole plants
less space is needed so more different species can be held in the space available
large numbers of seeds are produced by plants so collecting seeds is unlikely to disturb/impact the local population
dormant so easier to store
more cost effective
