EGD with biopsy

evaluate for lymph node involvement and metastatic disease.
All patients: Obtain CT abdomen, pelvis, and thorax.
Potentially resectable disease (M0): Consider endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) and diagnostic laparoscopy.
Additional modalities include upper GI series and PET-CT.

Laboratory studies: e.g., to identify anemia
Tissue analysis for biomarkers: e.g., HER2, TNF-α
