How should the px Rx present
spherical power (D) cylindrical power, axis direction ( without degree symbol) prismatic power, orientation, and near addition( zero added in front if less than 1)
The date
patient's name, address, and date of birth
the name and practice address of the practitioner who conducted the test,
the address where the test was carried out
a statement indicating the outcome of any previous prescriptions
Any need for optical appliances
Gos 3 voucher?
Contribute to cost of specs if under 16 or 16 to 18 in FTE.
Px may have complex rx or frames show wear and tear
Can be claimed for small glasses supplement (BCD less than 55mm AND custom made frame ) or special facial characteristics

Sale of Optical Appliances Order of Council 1984
1. Patients under the age of 16
- Optical appliances can only be sold by or under the supervision of a registered optometrist, dispensing optician, or medical practitioner
2. Registered blind or partially sighted individuals
- They can purchase frames only but not prescription lenses unless the sale is supervised by a qualified professional.
3. Prescription validity
- The prescription must be less than two years old unless the recall period stated by the optometrist/ophthalmic practitioner is shorter.
What may unregistered sellers sell?
The consumer is over 16
