Minimum sampling rate required to avoid aliasing; equals twice the highest frequency in the signal:

Sampling a signal at a much higher rate than the Nyquist rate. It spreads quantization noise over a wider band and allows better filtering and resolution enhancement.

A digital filter with finite impulse response. Its output depends only on current and past input values, not past outputs.
