MISSION
This mission is either created by explaining the character's problem or the character's goal.
If there is a problem, the goal is the solution, and if there is a goal, then the mission is clear right from the start.
This mission helps to set the trajectory of the story as the viewer knows where the character starts and where they want to go. Or in other words, the viewer has a clear idea of point A and point B.
CONFLICT
The second element is conflict. Without conflict, no story is going to be interesting to watch.
Great stories are not about showing the bright side of the journey, but the much more interesting parts are going to be the ones where the character needs to overcome an obstacle.
That's why your job as a storyteller is to focus on as many obstacles as possible between point A and point B.
This lets you highlight the moments of conflict along the journey, which ultimately makes your story a lot more engaging to watch.
Character transformation
Throughout the different obstacles,
the character is going to be challenged in their values and beliefs,
and they are going to develop as a person.
This character transformation is extremely exciting to
watch, and you should always try to document your character's change in personality.
Vulnerability
vulnerable moments of your character immediately establishes
trust between them and your viewer.
Witnessing the struggles of the character
makes the viewer emotionally invested in the character's journey, and therefore it makes them care about your story.
