often interchangeable, but there is a useful distinction:

sueldo → usually the regular fixed payment (paycheck/salary) someone receives for their job, especially monthly, € al mes.

salario → broader and somewhat more formal/legal/economic. It can refer to the remuneration a worker receives, including wages and sometimes additional components.

“El salario mínimo ha aumentado”. →

salario = remuneration/wage as a broader concept

There is also a regional difference: sueldo is very common in everyday Spanish, while salario appears more often in formal, legal, economic, and employment contexts.

And trabajo asalariado uses asalariado because it literally means “wage-paid / salaried”, not because salario and sueldo are completely different concepts.
