CWCS
CWCS — Command and Weapons Control System — Definition
integration of all sensors
integration of all weapons
tactical data link system
integrated shipboard network system
security filters / gateways
diver detection sonar
decomposition levels — Weapon System F125
The weapon system comprises the combat management system, the platform system and shore-based systems.
The combat management system is subdivided into the segments “Topics Information System” (Fachinformationssystem), Maritime Command, Control and Information System MCCIS (here CCIS), Information Transfer System (ITS), navigation, and the CMS segment
F125 Programme Contractual Structures
CMS Segment: overview
The CMS segment comprises
sensors + weapons + central control system + DLS + integrated shipboard network (red network)
complemented by:
multi-service shipboard network (black network) + security filters for secure data transmission between red and black system elements of the CMS
CMS Segment: System Elements
The C^2 section of the CMS segment encompasses:
central combat management system “CMS HW/SW”
data link system (L11, 16, 22)
ship’s IP network, including
integrated shopboard network (IBN) for internal transmission of sensitive classified (red) data
multi-service shipboard network (MSB) for internal transmission of non-confidential (black) data
security filters (SF) for secure transmission of non-confidential data between both networks
sensors, including
multi-function radar (MFR), Identification Friend Foe (IFF), Electro Optical Tracker (EOT), InfraRed Search and Track System (IRST), Radar/Communication Electronic Support Measures (RCESM)
weapons, including
close-in weapon system, hitrole machine gun weapon station, heavy machine gun, large calibre gun, point defence missile system, surface to surface missiles, decoy launching system, searchlight
CMS Segment: Special Features
Sensor Arrangement
Weapons: Arrangement
CMS HW/SW: Special Features
CMS HW/SW: Integration on Board
In total:
22 x CMS operating consoles (MFC, multi-functional consoles)
2 x CAP (redundancy, command authorization panel)
excessive computing power (factor 7) compared to defined maximum load scenario
additionally: display on LSDs, display and control via notebooks, other peripheral equipment
CMS HW/SW: Anti-Asymmetric Warfare Escalation Zones
AZ: internal measure
WZ: automatic employment of non-lethal weapons, e.g. searchlight, accoustic device
NLEZ: at least one gun is directed automatically and the operator fires a warning shot
LEZ: automatic or semi-automatic weapon employment
Lethal weapon employment is an option in all escalation stages.
The geometry and position of escalation zones can be adjusted as required.
Different sets of escaltation zones can be defined for airborne and seaborne threats.
