Rectifier
A electric circut which convert AC voltage into a DC voltage
Half wave rectifier
Half wave rectifier [ key points]
One diode
+ s1 w.r s2
Forward baised
- s1 w.r s2
Reverse rectifier
Full wave rectifier
A full wave rectifier circuit uses two diodes.
D1 conducts in the positive half cycle and D2 conducts in the negative half cycle of the input voltage.
During the positive half cycle of the input voltage, the point A is at a higher potential than that of the point B and the diode D1, conducts.
During the negative half cycle of the input voltage, the point B is at a higher potential than that of the point A and the diode D2, conducts.
Full wave rectifier ( tip)
2 diode
D1 = + , D2 = -
+ , A higher point than b
- , B higher than A
Advantage of Full wave rectifier
Rectification takes place in both the cycles of the AC input.
Ripple in Full wave rectifier is less than half wave rectifier
Both cycle
F is less than H
What is ripple factor
r.m.s ac/dc
What is filter circuit
A filter circuit used to remove ripple from the output of rectification
